October 31, 2001 - Japan
"Family"

1) MATSUBARA - Burning incense at my great grandfather's gravesite.

2) MATSUBARA - The family gathers at the site where my grandfather's house once stood.

3) OSAKA - Waving goodbye to Japan on my way to the airport.

4) TSURUGA - Yoko cuts my hair at the Shiraki Salon.

5) HIROSHIMA - Night scene of Hiroshima City.

6) TSURUGA - My mother (left) shares tells a story to her cousin Iako. Iako lives in Tsuruga, a small town 5 miles east of the villages where our family once lived.

7) KUGUSHI - Mom pays tribute to her maternal grandmother by pouring water on the headstone.

8) OSAKA - Uncle Bill was craving to eat at an inexpensive Udon (noodle) shop. He finally found one a few hours before leaving Japan.

9) TSURUGA - TSURUGA - Family members walk on a beach near where my grandparents once played at as kids.
